After such a successful year of managing to maintain my blog, I thought the year wouldn't be complete without the challenge of completing Blogmas.
If you don't know, Blogmas (or Vlogmas if YouTube is your platform) is essentially a blog or vlog advent calendar, where a new post is uploaded every day for the month of December.
Some do it from the 1st until the 24th; others post on Christmas Day as well. Some do the 12 days of Christmas, & others go all the way to New Year.
This year, I will be doing from the 1st up to & including Christmas Day :)
So here we go. Blogmas Day 1!
I have lived half of my life in the UK & the other half in Australia (we have been here 13 years now!). That means half cold, sometimes white Christmases... and the other half hot summer Christmas.
So what is it like having Christmas in Summer?
I will say in the beginning, it was a little bit weird. And I won't lie, I really miss cold Christmases. There is just something about snuggling in huge winter jumpers & enjoying a huge roast dinner.
In terms of spending the day with family, opening presents & having a nice lunch, that is all the same.
The biggest change is in what we wear (no ugly Christmas sweater for me!) & our activities.
The first year we were here, we did the obligatory head to Bondi Beach in a santa hat thing (LOL). But after that, we will either be at my parents, or at our cousins house. We tend to spend the day chilling inside, or in the pool. We then have lunch outside. Really chilled out family day - just in the heat haha.
Food wise, my parents tend to opt for cold meats & salads & BBQ in lieu of your traditional Christmas roast. But Mack's parents go for the roast, so I now get the best of both worlds in that respect.
Most of the marketing for Christmas really doesn't suit a Summer Christmas, so I'm not sure I will 100% ever get used to it. But I also wouldn't trade my life in Australia for anything, so a sunny day in the pool hanging out with family... well I can't really complain.
Christmas 2014
Christmas 2017
See you tomorrow!
